Wendy Lawler - Second Grade Teacher
Hello. My name is Wendy Lawler and I have lived in Kensington most of my life. I actually went to Kensington Elementary School as a student! My dad was elected to be on the School Board when I was in third grade. He served on the board for 35 rewarding years. His passion and commitment for the students and staff at KES was exemplary and lives on through me.
I always wanted to be a teacher. As a child I would play school with my siblings and neighborhood friends. After graduating from Exeter High School, I continued my education at Plymouth State College where I received my teaching degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching at KES for 28 rewarding years! During this time, I married and had two beautiful children. Five years ago I received a Masters Degree in Reading through Walden University.
Teaching is my passion! I enjoy trying to figure out what makes each child tick. Every student becomes "my favorite" and they all hold a special spot in my heart. Years ago when I attended a workshop on Developmental Education, the message was, "Childhood should be a journey not a race." I try to live by this philosophy. My classroom is a place where everyone feels safe to learn, make mistakes, explore and feel that.... "If I think I can, I can!!"
